Labex NEXT passes successfully the midterm!

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

NEXT has been assessed by an international jury for its mid-term review by the Commissioner General for Investment and ANR (oral presentation on June 2, 2015 in Paris). The jury recognizes the very great qualities of NEXT: dynamism, attractiveness and international status. NEXT plays a positive role in the innovative local socio-economic environment, including its structuring impact. Its implementation allows to raise additional financing.

A great success of NEXT is to make theoretician and experimental teams interact, to promote collaboration between chemists and physicists, and to achieve advanced equipment facilities. The list of publications and patents demonstrate the achievements in scientific and technological fields.

The jury also welcomes the involvement of the Labex in training actions through the financial support of experimental equipment for Masters Physics and Chemistry of the University of Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier and for training center in Nano sciences (AIME). The creation of the School of Advanced Sciences of Luchon was particularly appreciated.

The jury was very sensitive to actions towards society (contribution to international year of Crystallography in 2014 and Light in 2015), towards PhD students (international mobility) and to the development of privileged relations with international institutes (partnership with Rice Center for Quantum Materials, Houston Texas).
